Privacy Policy

Privacy by design, safety by default.

This policy explains how Alexo handles information when you use our crowd-sourced street safety app and website. Alexo is designed to show approximate safety zones, not identify people.

Effective date: April 24, 2026

No public identityReports are not shown with names, emails, phone numbers, or exact reporter locations.
Approximate zonesIncident reports appear as broad safety zones so people are not pinpointed.
Limited useWe use data to run alerts, reduce abuse, improve safety features, and operate the service.

Information we collect

  • Location data: with your permission, Alexo uses your location to show nearby zones, check that reports are made near you, and send relevant alerts. Your live location is not shown to other users.
  • Incident reports: reports may include an approximate zone, category, timestamp, and optional note. Do not include names, addresses, photos, or other personal details in reports.
  • Device identifiers: we create or receive limited device identifiers to reduce duplicate reports, enforce rate limits, and prevent abuse.
  • Push notifications: if you allow notifications, we store a push token and alert preferences so we can send nearby safety alerts.
  • Basic technical data: we may receive logs needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the app and website.

How we use information

We use information to display community safety zones, calculate consensus, send alerts, maintain your preferences, protect the service from spam and misuse, diagnose problems, and comply with legal obligations. Alexo is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or witnessing a crime in progress, call 999.

What other users can see

Other users can see approximate report zones, categories, general timing, consensus state, and optional report notes. They cannot see your account identifier, device identifier, push token, or live location.

Retention

Active incident zones expire quickly in the app. We may retain report records, security logs, and aggregated analytics for operations, abuse prevention, product improvement, and safety analysis. We keep this information only as long as needed for those purposes.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We use service providers such as hosting, database, mapping, analytics, and push notification providers to operate Alexo. These providers process information for us under their own security and privacy obligations.

Your choices

  • You can disable location access in your device settings, though map and report features may be limited.
  • You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
  • You can avoid adding personal details to optional report notes.
  • You can contact us to ask about privacy, deletion, or access requests.

Safety and moderation

Alexo is for awareness, not accusations. Reports are approximate and crowd-sourced. We may review, remove, limit, or investigate reports that appear abusive, false, identifying, discriminatory, or unsafe.

Children

Alexo is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
